Wild-harvested vs Lab-grown
Collected in the wild. Biochemistry varies with season and place – that is the advantage and the constraint.
Mycelium-on-grain or other lab cultivation. Predictable profile, lower cost. Narrower biochemical spectrum – missing terpenes that the wild type develops at altitude.
Wild Apis laboriosa honey vs commercial cultivated honey – entirely different categories. A. laboriosa is a wild giant bee species nesting on inaccessible cliff faces above 3,000m, not amenable to conventional beekeeping. «Himalayan honey» on the mass market is typically Apis cerana with low-altitude flora composition.
